Liver Disease & Liver Cirrhosis Specialist in Bristol

Symptoms of liver disease include jaundice (a yellow colour to the skin, associated with pale stools and dark urine), tiredness and itching (known as pruritis). Liver disease can be caused by a wide variety of diseases. These include:

  • Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

  • Viral Hepatitis (Hepatitis A, B, C and E)

  • Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

  • Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

  • Autoimmune Hepatitis

  • Liver Cancers

  • Haemochromatosis

  • Wilsons disease

In advanced liver disease, the liver becomes scarred. The final stage of this scarring process is known as cirrhosis, and can be caused by any of the above conditions. This can cause bleeding from the gut, swelling of the abdomen with fluid, and kidney problems.
